The plan for reading the Bible in a year:

Starting on June 30, 2013, there will be daily posts listing a Bible reading for the day. The comments section will be open for discussion of that day’s reading. This will be for sharing favorite passages, how the reading touches you, or what it means to you. Since I’d rather let the conversation flow, comments won’t be moderated. If there are spam posts, please ignore them…I will delete them. If this doesn’t work well, I will look into doing things differently. Make sure that you are ready to join us by following us using the form at the bottom of the page. (This is free and the only emails you will get are notifications of new posts.)

The reading outline we’ll be using is a little bit different than most I’ve seen. Instead of being strictly chronological, or front to back, it covers a different focus each day of the week. Sundays are for the Epistles, Mondays for the Law, Tuesdays for History, Wednesdays for Psalms, Thursdays for Poetry, Fridays for Prophecy, and Sabbath for the Gospels. If you would like to have a printed copy of the schedule, it is available here: http://www.bible-reading.com/bible-plan.pdf

Each days post will include convenient links to the days reading on http://www.biblegateway.com/. The link will be to the King James Version of the reading, but once you load the page you can easily select other versions to read as well. Of course you can also read your own hardcopy Bible if you prefer. If you comment based on a different version than the King James Version, please state which version you are referring to so that we can all look at what you are referring to.

If you are joining us after our start date, feel free to start with the current days reading (then circle back to week 1 after we read week 52) or you can go back and start at week 1. If you miss a day you can come back to it later, or double up your reading to catch up. The goal is to read the entire Bible, hopefully within a 52 week period, but if it takes a bit longer it’s still an accomplishment, so stick with it.

My prayer is for this to be an inspirational and educational opportunity for us all, as well as developing (or for some of us, re-developing or strengthening) a commitment to study the Word every day. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions not directly related to one of the days readings, please feel free to contact me using the form below.

  1. Man is born carnal and therefore cannot trust what/who God is and what he says He will do. He has to be reborn in spirit and have a single mind towards God. There are always a few or a lot that tend to sway the majority in wrongful thinking.. Since the majority didn’t have a strong relationship with God of their own, they distrusted God and believed the naysayers.. And fell..
